Ocean Sciences Workshop Announced
Data Labs: Using OOI Data to Engage Students in Oceanography

Sunday, February 16, 2020
8:30am – 4:00pm

Data Lab workshop participants at Western Washington University. We will be at Ocean Sciences 2020 in San Diego to present another NSF-sponsored workshop on the integration of Ocean Observing Initiative (OOI) data into undergraduate teaching of oceanography themes and concepts.

We are excited to expand our community and share a new suite of Data Explorations developed by professors who participated in 2019 OOI Data Lab Development workshops.

If you haven’t been to one of our recent workshops, please join us to learn from your peers about their experience on implementing these new resources in various learning environments. We also encourage you to share this opportunity with your colleagues.

Participants will receive a $300 stipend and complimentary breakfast and lunch. Please note that you must be registered for the Ocean Sciences meeting to attend the workshop. Space is limited to 35 attendees so don’t delay.

OOI Data Labs+ Webinar Series

Our 2019-2020 webinar series has been a great success so far, with sessions led by various members of our community on topics including learning science, teaching with data, and the implementation of newly developed Data Explorations.

We’ve received positive feedback, and participants especially have appreciated the chance to talk to colleagues across the country about improving teaching and learning. Check out the recordings and resources that are posted on our web site.

Please join us one last time this fall, on Monday, December 16th, 3pm ET for a session focused on Developing Student Data Skills, facilitated by Kristin Hunter-Thomson.

The series will resume in February with sessions focused on new Data Explorations and OOI data analysis with Python.
